That Overcomes All Despondency and Dependency

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. Luke 2:1-20

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

How to Follow Christ

Love, NOT being despondent or dependent, is the Way, the Truth, and the Light represented to mankind over 2,000 years ago by the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

It is easy to become despondent as terrible crimes are committed everyday. The legacy news broadcasts this horror at us 24/7. We can concentrate on that, or we can concentrate on the good, the true, and the beautiful as represented by a God Man being born in poverty in a remote village who changed the entire world by his divine message of love, truth, and life.

I choose Christ.

I am old now, on the far side of life, looking forward to rejoining my parents and other loved ones in Heaven, God willing. Death is a reality that Americans prefer to avoid thinking about, but it is one of the great realities for which we must prepare. I have my Living Will and Medical Will updated and ready for the day that can be any day.

Tonight, I will sing in the choir “O Holy Night” and try to hit the high notes. My beautiful younger son Eamon Patrick Curley will be playing classical violin next to me. My beautiful, grace filled, kind, and loving wife that has kept me productive and alive through missions and tasks that could have taken me from this planet early will be there as well.

I have so much to be grateful for. The grandchildren will burst through the door tomorrow somewhat aware of who Christ is, but more aware that there is a Rock ‘em Sock ‘em robot, a tiny drone, a bounce back punching bag, sports balls, and other gifts that my son and his wife will insist I should not spoil them with at Christmas or any time. My wife spent all day today preparing the food that will nourish our bodies and feed our souls at the family dinner.

Through my wife, children, and grandchildren, I see rock solid evidence that God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are real. I have experienced Divine and family forgiveness and love many times in my life…even when I did not deserve it.

It is among the reasons I volunteer as the Vice President of The American Tactical Civil Defense Association (TACDA.ORG) and have also written 18 articles in 17 years for their remarkable 60-year old publication, the Journal of Civil Defense.

TACDA has helped save so many American lives and their property over those 60 years. And it has been noticed. Just this year, several powerful government agencies contacted us to “partner.” We were polite, but refused. TACDA has has always been a private sector, non-governmental, family based organization ever since the U.S. Government abandoned civil defense in 1962.

Educating American families about civil defense for TACDA and this American Tactical Civil Defense Substack is my volunteer, non-work mission. It is the way I try to share some of the love of Christ to others in a practical and useful way.

Prepare

Please take time during these Christmas holidays (Holy Days) to reflect on how to protect your family for natural and manmade disasters. I have done this for so many decades and seen so much destruction I know it is real. And the beauty of the rebuilt and resurrected communities later is also real. It is all in God’s plan and we must respond to His Will in these events.

As I write this, there are many families in Western North Carolina, yes, in the United States of American, sleeping under tarps on straw because the U.S. Government has catastrophically failed to help them recover from a Biblical-level flood.

Those Americans in Western North Carolina know the destructive power of nature now. As with every natural disaster experienced, they will take measures to prepare for the next one…and given the topography, there will be a next one. Prepare your family NOW for such disasters. It is a life insurance policy you create, control, and benefit from when disaster strikes.

Prepare IN ADVANCE

Solid civil defense requires preparing IN ADVANCE. The atheistic Godless Communist Chinese Party (CCP) has big plans to take down the United States to turn us into their bread basket. They are well advanced in this plan. Tragically, they own and control large tracks of fertile U.S. farmland, much of it next to our most “secure” Air Force bases.

We are not allowed to own farmland in Red China, but we are so stupid we have enabled them to buy hundreds of thousands of acres in our nation. Based on the USDA's Farm Service Agency data reported as of December 31, 2022, Chinese investors owned approximately 349,442 acres of U.S. farmland then. It has increased since. And that is a low estimate. Red China is very skilled at using front companies to buy U.S. assets and hiding such purchases through shell companies.

You might say the CCP farmland in the U.S. is a duel use technology. They get additional food to feed their large population as Xi is fully aware that the Chinese emperor falls when the masses starve, and, they get to surveil our most advanced military technology as a secondary bonus.

According to their stated aims, we will provide their food, buy their products, and obey their dictates. Think Hong Kong. Their leader Xi has not been shy about saying this for years. That reality is only one major manmade disaster on the horizon.

As I am currently researching and writing an article about protecting your family from cybercriminals, the CCP is on my mind because they crawl all over our major business and government servers every day and are now getting around to vacuuming up data about individual Americans from Tic Toc and other sources.

Along with 17 million other Vets, they hacked my DD-214 in 2014. They are deadly serious about their plans to dominate the world and make Americans submit to their ideology.

The two main theories about the large, sophisticated, drones in thousands of posts on X are they are U.S. drones chasing down the signature of a smuggled in and reassembled nuclear device or CCP surveillance drones vacuuming up intel for their planned destruction of the U.S. Neither scenario is good and our secretive federal government is telling us nothing to dispel those theories.

And there are multiple natural disasters that occur every hour somewhere in the world. You do not hear about it because most of them do not make the legacy media. If they do, the legacy media moves on to another story within 72 hours. The best way to keep up with disasters is to use X.

But as the poor Americans in East Palestine, OH and Western North Carolina now know, natural disasters are a real part of earths natural ecosystem and we are caught up in them whether we want to be or not. So, please learn what you need to know to prepare your family for them.

And that is not hard. If you store up clean, safe water, sufficient foods, a few basic medical supplies, etc. you are ahead of 97% of your fellow Americans.

Maybe start tonight by going to Mass or another type of Christmas Eve Service to celebrate the infant Jesus who grew up to revolutionize human history, and continues to do so.

Move from 2024 to 2025 in the infinite and eternal love of Jesus. Let’s fill up the church pews again and rediscover how Christianity is the best hope for civilization in the future.
