Starlink and X Saves American Mountaineers and Floridians
Reliable Communication is Heavenly in a Disaster
Hurricane Helene and its aftermath is one of the most significant hurricanes in U.S. history. I say that as someone who first got involved in civil defense as an additional duty while in the U.S. Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, in the 1980’s. I have studied the impact of hurricane’s on civilians and property ever since. Not sure even hurricane Andrew did this much damage.
The federal government, and especially the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), whose whole reason for existing is to serve the people who grant them power and tax money, should have taken care of the hundreds of thousands who lost their loved ones, homes, electricity, internet, cell phones, cars, trucks communities, their hope, and more.
The impeached Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas Alejandro Mayorkas warned that FEMA does not have enough funding to cover the rest of the hurricane season. Gee, how did that happen?
In a monumental dereliction of duty, Godless actions, and organized criminal behavior FEMA spent over a billion and a half on millions of foreign invaders. The U.S. State Department (USAID) compounded FEMA’s horror by sending hundreds of billions of American taxpayer money to foreign nationals.
And, remarkably, rather than spending millions to help Americans impacted by hurricane Helene, to mitigate beach erosion, FEMA gives millions for beach seawalls in Martha’s Vineyard. I kid you not.
Both horrors meant that Americans who suffered terribly during and after hurricane Helen were left to fend for themselves. One man who stood in the breach and provided them a way to communicate with free Starlinks: Elon Musk.
Starlink and X Saved the Day
Without Starlinks and X posts to help get them to those in need, as you can see below, there would have been no way to know the extent of the death, suffering, and destruction to the people of Appalachia and Florida. Without Starlink, there would have been no way to communicate the scope of federal criminal neglect and to record hat neglect to provide life-saving satellite relief and recovery communication.
Both are owned by Elon Musk who by his good graces opened up both X and Starlink so that millions of ordinary Americans were informed about the magnitude of the disaster. Rather than doing their core mission of helping Americans impacted by a natural disaster, FEMA was MIA.
As in the U.S. military under the Biden/Harris Administration, their mission focus had changed to promoting DEI, Transgenderism, and gay Marxism rather than on helping Americans recover from a catastrophic natural disaster. This change was the manmade disaster that caused the federal non-response to hurricane Helene.
NOTE: Mountaineers in Appalachia have a 400-year old history of helping one another through the hard times. American Chestnut Trees Once the Pride of the Appalachia’s and Appalachia Story Teller: The Rise and Fall of Appalachia provides excellent background to help understand their tenacity, survival instincts, patriotism, military tradition, and spirituality on display now as they help each other recover from hurricane Helene.
Starlink units were vital to communicating to police, fire houses, emergency management technicians (EMTs) and other life saving personnel before, during, and after hurricane Helene. Mountaineers in remote hallows were cut off from cell phone and internet communication in massive numbers. Due to Starlink, they were able to communicate that they needed water, food, and medical supplies through Starlink when no other means of communication existed.

If you wish to donate, please consider Grindstone Ministries. The founder was a contractor after hurricane Katrina and witnessed the government waste, fraud, and abuse. He founded Grindstone Ministries as a private charity to aid destitute Americans impacted by natural and manmade disaster. See the link below under Carla as they navigate a narrow, muddy cliff to deliver a Starlink unit to an isolated family. As the founder noted, “Due to lack of aid, many in the deep mountains are giving up on the will to live.” Give them the will to live by donating.

Ryan Hall, Y’all @ryanhallyall First round of @Starlink terminals are airborne. We're working with local officials to make sure they get to the remote areas that need them as quickly as possible. We're also paying for unlimited data plans for each one. This is one of many things @TheYallSquad is doing thanks to y'alls support. Thank you.
ALEX @ajtourville NEWS: @Starlink-enabled drones are being used in North Carolina to airlift emergency supplies (including Starlink kits) to stranded residents that can't be reached by ground vehicles.
Sawyer Merritt @SawyerMerritt NEWS: SpaceX engineer Mike Coryell, who has been with the company for 10 years, has spent the past week in North Carolina. He says they have already deployed over 1,000 Starlink kits in the valley, with each deployment enabling 10x more people to communicate. So far, they've received over 8,500 requests for Starlink just from the region he’s working in. "We're going to be here as long as we can to get these deployed as fast as humanly possible." @Starlink is saving lives.
ALEX @ajtourville NEWS: Samaritan's Purse president and CEO Franklin Graham in Boone North Carolina personally thanks Elon Musk for the @Starlink kits and his @SpaceX engineers that are helping coordinate "Operation Starlink"
Wall Street Apes @WallStreetApes LISTEN UP AMERICA Private Hurricane Helene Search & Rescue Team says National Guard, Fire Department, local police and sheriff all were helping them but FEMA STALLED THEM Says @Starlink is how they’re been able to communicate. I’m posting the full 10 minute video so you can hear the details directly from people on the ground “We were making runs back and forth with four-wheelers. They did have Starlink at both sites initially so we could communicate to hear in with each other.”
Nate Winkler @nate_wink Set up Starlink in a remote community of Western North Carolina yesterday. Within 5 minutes families were able to communicate with each other and check-in for the first time in days or a week. Emails and requests for help can start flowing as well. Life changing tech @SpaceX and @elonmusk! We’ll be taking more Starlink kits into these areas as soon as we can get our hands on other units!
The Theft of FEMA Disaster Funds and the Foreign “Aid” Grift
Before and after hurricane Helene struck, there should have been sufficient federal funds to finance the immediate purchase of Starlink units, but the money had been stolen and redirected to finance an invasion by foreigners into the United States.
In 2024, FEMA distributed approximately $640 million for illegals in grants for cities and counties dealing with an influx of illegal aliens. Additionally, they distributed $650 million for migrant housing and food costs, and another $1.4 billion available for disbursement to NGOs. This is all money that was stolen from relief and recovery funds that should have gone to Americans impacted by natural and manmade disasters. In 2023, FEMA managed about $364 million in grants for similar support. New York City received another $104.5 million for illegal alien support.
The chart below provides the hundreds of billions of taxpayer money going to Ukraine, Israel, Ethiopia, etc. that should be going to Americans.
Wall Street Apes @WallStreetApes Happening RIGHT NOW This isn’t Kamala Harris’ FEMA Tonight these regular everyday Americans are working through the night to make bridges for Hurricane Helene victims out of downed telephone poles and trees. This is work by real American you won’t see reported by the media
NOTE: If you click the link to this Wall Street Ape post you will see dozens of heavy equipment operators clearing debris and building a bridge out of downed trees. This demonstrates a truth I have discovered over the years in civil defense work and disasters: Nothing happens until skilled construction workers clear the downed trees, telephone poles, and debris so that rescue workers, utility crews, fire fighters, EMT’s, police, construction workers, insurance agents and others can get into the natural disaster war zone to help Americans. Emergency management plans often overlook the criticality of skilled construction workers, but they are the tip of the spear to recovery. NO RECOVERY HAPPENS WITHOU THEM!
ALEX @ajtourville NEWS: This weekend, the Generac storm response team met up with SpaceX engineer @MikeCoryell – together they organized 100 kits consisting each of a portable generator, gas, and a Starlink receiver that were loaded up onto helicopters to get them into hard-to-reach areas.

The FCC Rescinded the Starlink Rural Digital Opportunity Fund Award After it Granted It
Elon Musk, the owner of Starlink, addresses the FCC granting the award to build out Starlink to rural Americans and then rescinding that offer here.
In response to my question to Grok “what was the FCC project to award Starlink for rural people” I received the following answer: The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) initiated a project known as the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) with the aim of extending broadband internet access to rural and underserved areas across the United States. Here's an overview of how Starlink, operated by SpaceX, was involved:
Initial Award: In an auction for the first phase of RDOF, Starlink won $885.5 million to provide high-speed broadband internet to over 5.2 million unserved homes and businesses across 35 states. This was part of a broader $9.2 billion allocation from a total fund of $16 billion set aside for this purpose.
Service Commitment: Starlink was expected to offer internet service with speeds of at least 100Mbps download and 20Mbps upload with low latency. This commitment was to serve these rural areas by a certain deadline, typically set for service deployment to begin within a few years of the auction, with full service expected by December 2025.
Controversy and Reversal: However, the FCC later decided to cancel this funding for Starlink. The reasons cited included doubts over Starlink's ability to deliver the promised service speeds across the vast rural areas specified in the award. Despite an appeal by SpaceX, arguing that Starlink was arguably the only viable option for many rural and remote areas and highlighting its successful deployments elsewhere, the FCC reaffirmed its decision in late 2023. The commission expressed concerns over Starlink's capability to meet the high-speed, low-latency requirements by the stipulated deadlines.
Implications: This decision reflects the challenges in deploying satellite internet to meet the rigorous standards set for government subsidies, particularly the balance between technological promise, actual service delivery, and regulatory expectations. While Starlink has been operational in many areas, providing internet where traditional services were unavailable, the FCC's decision underscores the complexities of scaling such technology to meet extensive rural coverage with specific performance metrics.
This project highlights the broader issue of bridging the digital divide in rural America, where satellite internet like Starlink could theoretically play a significant role, but also faces regulatory and technological hurdles in practice.
NOTE: These floods happen periodically in Appalachia. Here is one in 1929.
FEMA Blocked Starlink from Saving Lives
WASHINGTON — Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas set off outrage Wednesday when he told reporters that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) “does not have the funds” to see Americans through the rest of this Atlantic hurricane season — after the agency spent more than $1.4 billion since the fall of 2022 to address the migrant crisis.
Peter St Onge, Ph.D. @profstonge FEMA is broke. Because they pissed away billions on migrants and Ukraine. As America First Legal put it "Over the last 4 years the Biden-Harris admin has steadily transformed FEMA into an illegal alien resettlement agency."
Rather than providing Starlink units to destitute Mounaineers, the federal government was hindering their use, as recorded here.
J∅kër Kîng @j0ker937 In the wake of Hurricane Helene, FEMA is showing its true colors. An unmarked helo performed a "roto wash" hovered over a makeshift supply center filled with food & water meant for desperate survivors. Despite a no-fly zone & clear signals to avoid landing, they swooped down, hovered & destroyed crucial supplies for those in need. I do not believe this was just incompetence. I believe this is a part of a larger plan to starve out the victims. Why? To make way for a land grab. I think this is a scheme hidden behind a mask of disaster relief. They are turning a disaster into an opportunity to strip people of their land & their rights. This is treason against the American people. The Deep State is trying to break us, but we see through the lies. #DarkMAGA. Vote #TrumpVance2024
Shawn Hendrix @TheShawnHendrix Many have asked how this all started for me. I recorded a response but didn’t expect the emotional turn it took. I honestly have sat on it not sure to post it. Sara A. Carter @SaraCarterDC A message from the Sheriff Wright and Sheriff Ellenburg in North Carolina regarding FEMA and the aftermath Hurricane Helen- we spent the day in Chimney Rock and Lake Lure and the devastation is unbelievable- but the people of NC have pulled together - truly amazing mountain people.
In contrast…
Tom Koelzer @TomKoelzerNow ·The Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program ($42 B) was supposed to outfit states with high-speed internet by 2030. Nothing so far has been installed. Starlink is the obvious affordable solution.
Below is a first-hand account of the vast devastation from Western North Carolina
This letter accurately records the level of destruction and human impact of hurricane Helene. Starlink units could have brought in the help needed but the federal government was blocking them from coming in to help the desperate Americans in those areas.
Worse, there were major military assets all over these states (82nd and 101st Airborne, Ft. Bragg and others) that were not deployed. When the treason trials start in January 2025, this must be added to the list of charges.

Today I saw true devastation and death and I am not ok…
Today was the first day that I attempted to make it into Asheville to work. I wanted to check on my store and my staff and see my coworkers and to get some much needed supplies. I am still out of power and water at my home in Marion. With hwy 40 East Bound closed I had to take back roads around it which included down close to lake Lure and Chimney Rock and then back up into Black Mountain and Swannanoa before finally into Asheville.
The normally 40 minute drive to work took the better part of two hours and in that time the things I saw will haunt me for the rest of my life. The lightest of things were down trees collapsed power lines. I drove over and under so many destroyed power lines it wasn’t even funny.
Then I got into areas where I was driving over cliffs and the edges of collapsed roads some of which had me wondering if I would even make it to Asheville alive or see my little girl again. On more than one occasion my car felt as if it were slipping off the road. The road was collapsed in many places and slid down the mountains and or into rivers below so much so that barely one car could make it through. I even had to drive through what used to be a stream which is now small river that had overtaken a bridge. It took me a while to get the courage to drive through it because I couldn’t see the bottom and wasn’t sure how deep it was or how safe it was to drive through. I had to wait on someone else obviously more familiar with the area to go through first for reassurance I could make it in my little Kia.
Then I began to see cars such as the one below and even houses and a couple of campers collapsed and or washed away down the mountains and the rivers. Not even just with trees fallen on them. They had completely been destroyed and taken away by the storm waters. I saw whole sides of mountains and rivers that had collapsed in giant mudslides more than one hundred feet high easily.
But that wasn’t the worst…
As I drove through several areas where the storm had hit the worst I saw bodies. Bodies of animals wild and domestic, and then. I saw human bodies who had gotten caught in the storms and the rivers. (No im not kidding or exaggerating) At first I thought they were Halloween decorations or just clothes or something but as I got closer I could see they weren’t, they were real. Real victims of Helene washed away by the storm. I saw their faces.
Words cannot describe how much I was affected by those sights. Even worse when I was able to get signal when finally getting into Asheville I called emergency to let them know about the victims, and was told they would get to them when they could but they were currently overwhelmed with calls similar in nature and the disaster response, and honestly they didn’t know if and when they would be able to get to them.
All of this was happening while on the radio which for Asheville has mostly become call ins a woman got on the call from Swannanoa to talk about the bodies she had seen floating down river and piling up.
I am horrified. I am not ok. Those two hours this morning completely changed me. It’s one thing to hear of these kinds of disasters and a complete other to see it, truly see it. I’ve seen posts of people trying to find their loved ones in all of this, and all I can think of now is..were some of those people I saw the loved ones they were searching for? What will happen to them? Could anyone have saved them? Did they have any warning? I am utterly heartbroken.
I’m sure my coworkers thought I lost my mind because I couldn’t really do much except stare off into space thinking about what I saw and or was in tears.
WNC was never prepared for what happened with this hurricane. I don’t know if there was a way to prepare for what happened, and now all I can say is if you have family in WNC and/or anywhere that was affected by this storm please help them, check on them, do what you have to.
Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers. Please remember kindness in the face of this disaster.
We are not ok. Today I saw true devastation and death and I am not ok…
Despite technology and the world having come so far, it is mules that are bringing relief to some parts of Western North Carolina
Strange Things
Weather Geoengineering: There are so many strange things going on in our country behind the scenes by the men in the shadows that it is hard to keep up with them all. For example, consider if you will the weather geoengineering as explained by one of the men in the shadows, a guy who voted for Gus Hall leader of the Communist Party USA for president and incredibly became the Director of the CIA here.
Lithium Deposits and Mining in Appalachia: There were many X posts I read in researching this Substack that posit that there are large deposits of lithium, in the Appalachia’s. Since 2020, Blackrock and other investment companies are already buying up land in these mountains to mine this white gold. Although too big a subject to explore here, it is well worth researching to know how this will impact Mountaineers.
The lithium in the mountains detailed below is from Oshea on X.
Im in middle of nowhere AZ have had starlink for 2-1/2 years took 10 minutes to set up and link all devices smokn speeds and never once without service thru monsoons etc
101st Airborne made it there, not sure when or what area but someone updated that information on YouTube. It's sad we live in a time where social media covers critical information that the MSM isn't. Prayers to all. I worked Katrina with a store helping overflow of survivors being sent to other states. It was heart breaking. The stories that were told to me I can't repeat because it was that horrible. Recovery there is going to be long and we cannot forgot them in the coming months and year. I hope Florida gets through Milton as well.
