Im in middle of nowhere AZ have had starlink for 2-1/2 years took 10 minutes to set up and link all devices smokn speeds and never once without service thru monsoons etc
After watching it launched from Starbase for several years, I wanted to own it.
I always appreciated the civil defense uses of Starlink, but could not justify the $600+ for the unit and the monthly fee.
I always watched it closely as it went up with SpaceX rockets.
I saw what a remarkable job it did in Brazil last year after the massive flooding enabling emergency communication and supplies to get through to remote areas.
When I checked last month and the basic Starlink unit's price fell to $200, I downloaded the app and planned to get around to ordering it.
When I saw the life-saving force multiplier it manifested at the the tail end of Helene for Mountaineers, I bit the bullet and ordered one.
I am now awaiting delivery.
For years, I have followed the humanitarian mission of Elon Musk.
101st Airborne made it there, not sure when or what area but someone updated that information on YouTube. It's sad we live in a time where social media covers critical information that the MSM isn't. Prayers to all. I worked Katrina with a store helping overflow of survivors being sent to other states. It was heart breaking. The stories that were told to me I can't repeat because it was that horrible. Recovery there is going to be long and we cannot forgot them in the coming months and year. I hope Florida gets through Milton as well.
Any military help is good and I am glad to hear the 101st finally arrived, but sadly, the military response has been anemic.
When Katrina happened, the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines were all dispatched with a 3 Star general in charge to New Orleans.
None of that has happened for North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, etc.
The number buried in the mud and debris a week later is unreal.
Had the the USAF PJ's and other search and rescue professionals been dispatched immediately, those deaths would not have happened.
FEMA, the White House, and the current military have blood on their hands.
I know people who are running supplies from WV to NC and have heard first-hand reports of the death and destruction and the hostility of FEMA to relief efforts.
The $750 fed "relief and recovery" offer is mortal sin after robbing billions from FEMA to enable an 25 million to illegally invade American territory, including 30 divisions of CCP?PLA troops that come over the border at Brownsville, TX next to Starbase.
Fortunately, Appalachian citizens have known for 400 years they have been on their own, know what the feds are capable of, and rely on each other for their survival.
God bless them and may we all learn from their example.
💯 Agree. I held back what I really wanted to say, at least for now. I'm trying really hard to keep my emotions in check. I will say, that I pray for serious consequences of those in "authority" who utterly failed. Right now, the people need help and cooler heads. "They" are lying about many issues that have happened or simply choosing to not cover it. I believe the people over MSM. I pray for speedy recovery for all.

Here is a post I did on him back in 2008.
