Policy Failures before the California Fires
Wildfires have been a known natural disaster in California. What just happened, however, was a manmade disaster. And before we give them $200 billion plus to rebuild, we need to ask deep questions about how they caused this manmade disaster if we are to to ensure it does not happen again.
As can be seen in this 1962 video of the Belair fire, the fire threats in Southern California are exponentially increased due to Santa Anna “Devils Wind” that strike yearly,. This is a known natural disaster fact than can be mitigated through good water and fire policy, programs, and procedures.
Pathetically, when I listen to and read the collectivist communists propaganda legacy news corporations (NPR, PBS, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, New York Times, Washington Post, etc.) they repeat the lie that it is due to the “climate change” hoax.
They never mention the bizarre water and fire policies California has imposed for the past 60 years. They know their greatest power is the power to ignore and suppress the truth with lies repeated often enough the American population will accept it as truth.
After all, how else do you convince Texans to build thousands of acres of “solar farms” and massive wind turbines that do not provide reliable electricity ever, and especially during deep freezes.
How else do you convince Americans to spend their hard earned money to buy Red Chinese solar panels and wind turbines that only contributed to the demise of America? Now that these solar panels get destroyed in hail and wind turbines collapse and catch fire and are so toxic there is no where to bury them, the “green” myths are starting to fray.
This Natural Disaster was Caused by Multiple Manmade Disasters
For many years, a natural known threat has been the thick, dry chaparral brush and oak tress all within the city limits of Los Angeles next to the most valuable houses in the U.S.
The manmade disaster is that the collectivist Marxists who are the political rulers of the state of California and the City of Los Angeles, instead of managing that dry underbrush, vegetation, and tree reality, pretend it does not exist and do nothing about it. Worse, they have laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances thar prevent home owners from removing this fire tinder. And the collectivist Marxist legacy media helps them cover up this Utopian Socialist policy.
The problem with collectivist Marxists, besides the millions of humans they have killed, is that they are narcissists, and that primary character trait of theirs was on full display before, during, and after this fire.
From the French Revolution when godless collectivist communists murdered 200,000 Vendee Catholic civilians and soldiers who opposed their guillotine, to the tens of millions the Bolsheviks in Russia murdered or put in Gulag prisons, to the tens of millions Mao murdered, beat, and starved to death, wherever collectivist communists and their policies have power they abuse that power and it results in death and destruction. Although the death toll from the from the Eaton and Palisades fires in California is “only” 29 Americans, it is the same ideology that results in chaos, death, and destruction rather than life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Instead of directing money, resources, personnel and plans to mitigate this natural disaster, these California collectivist Marxists gave that money to their comrades. The greatest proof is that both the governor of California and the mayor of Los Angeles have been cutting the fire prevention budget while “spending” $25 billion for the “homeless.”
According to multiple reports and a California state audit, California has not tracked the $25 billion it spent on homelessness over the past several years. The audit revealed that California did not consistently track how the $25 billion was spent on homelessness initiatives from 2018 to 2023.
It also highlighted that the California Interagency Council on Homelessness, tasked with coordinating these programs, had not kept up with data collection or outcome assessments since 2021. This lack of data made it impossible to determine the effectiveness of these programs. In other words, it was stolen or wasted.
Despite all these billions, homelessness in California went up 55%, the highest in the nation. If only a little of this $25 billion had been spent on wise water and fire policies and programs, these California fires could have been kept from spreading to such a vast area. But now these same incompetent California collectivist Marxists want $200 billion plus to rebuild for a fire that spread due to their malfeasance. T
They lost $25 billion for the homeless. It's gone, they can't account for it. But at least Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass and their comrades all have nice mansions to avoid dealing with poor, working class, and middle class plebes.
Collectivists… they are shit! If you think differently from them, they kill you. You can't give shit leftists an inch! If you give them an inch they will use it to destroy you. You can’t negotiate with leftists. You don’t negotiate with trash because they will end you! And since we are so much better than them, we are defeating them in the cultural battle. We're not only economically superior, we’re morally superior, we’re aesthetically superior, we’re better at everything than them. And it triggers them! And since they can’t beat our arguments and ideas peacefully, they use the oppressive apparatus of the state to try to destroy us with taxpayer money to influence public opinion and destroy us. And yet they are still losing. You understand? They’re LOSING! They’re desperate, shit leftists are losing the cultural war.” - Javier Mile
Some may quibble with my assertion that collectivist communist have controlled the water and fire policy of California, but you don’t have to look any further than the catastrophic policy failures of Karen Bass, the current Mayor of Los Angeles.
Despite being warned of the imminent fire danger to Los Angeles, she took a tax payer junket to the inauguration of the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama. Upon her rushed return, when confronted by a foreign reporter about her criminal neglect, she was speechless and just stared ahead like a demented Joe “Where’s my Red Chinese bribe money” Biden.
Who is Karen Bass? She has a history of collectivist communist involvement with the Venceremos Brigade, a group with close ties to the Cuban communist regime. Here's an overview of her history with them:
Venceremos Brigade Involvement: Bass was active with the Venceremos Brigade in the 1970s, making numerous trips to Cuba. This group facilitated trips for Americans to Cuba to learn about the violent Cuban Revolution, and Bass's participation included activities like harvesting sugarcane, being indoctrinated, and attending cultural events. She was the leader of the Venceremos Brigade in Southern California, visiting Cuba approximately every six months during that period.
Association with Castro's Regime: Bass has expressed admiration for Fidel Castro's policies and has attended speeches by Castro. She aligning herself with Castro’s collectivist communist authoritarian practices, including training in Guerrilla warfare tactics. Bass has publicly acknowledged her trips to Cuba. When Castro died, she referred to him as "commandante en jefe," which stirred further controversy.
M19 and the Capitol Bombing: The 1983 U.S. Capitol bombing was carried out by the May 19th Communist Organization (M19), a group known for its radical anti-imperialist stance. Members of M19 were connected to and radicalized through their association with the Venceremos Brigade. For example, Susan Rosenberg, a member of M19 U.S. Capital bombing squad, traveled to Cuba with the Karen Bass Venceremos Brigade.
Bass's involvement with the Venceremos Brigade is well-documented. Her record as a Cuban revolutionary makes her top down, authoritarian fire and water programs make sense. The result of her policies is thousands of burned down homes and her inability to use the dynamic nature of capitalism to rebuild quickly, efficiently, and effectively.
Newsom is a more slick, Hollywood, skinny jeans version of Mayor Bass’s collectivist communist, but he drinks from the same poison well. In addition to creating the conditions for death and destruction with their evil water and fire policies, both of them celebrate the mutilation of children and other demonic pervasions behind their cheesy smiles. I am too old to pretend I do not see what I see them doing and I am going to call it out.
President Trump vs. the California Collectivist Communists
Note the shade the legacy corporate media (Fox and Politico) throws in this video when you view this press conference between President Trump and the California collectivist Marxists like Mayor Bass to see the huge difference in policies of Trump and Bass.
Even those next to Bass realize how bizarre her insistence on “safety” as a way to prevent homeowners to return to get their valuables before the looters and seize the microphone from her before she causes further embarrasses herself.
This press conference is worth watching multiple times to see the clear contrast between the collectivist Marxist policy approach (Bass) push and the free market approach (Trump) presents.
Among many Trump common sense questions he asks at this news conference is” “Why can’t the people go back in and get their valuables? …A week is too long to return…etc.” Sadly, illegal aliens and lumpen proletariat were already showing up at these poor home owners incinerated houses looking to steal their remaining valuables hidden in vaults.
People are Policy
The same incompetent collectivist communists who caused this manmade disaster have not been fired or prosecuted for their multiple crimes but remain in place to enable the same death and destruction in future California fires
Wall Street Apes @WallStreetApes The LAFD whistleblower who exposed California Governor Gavin Newsom ordered them to remove Elon Musk from the Command Post and return the donated Starlink devices has conducted more firefighter interviews -
Firefighters say Gavin Newsom is lying the Pacific Palisades fires water situation, they did run out of water.
“A firefighter told me that he was on a street in the Pacific Palisades and not only did he run out of water, but they had insufficient hydrants” -
The city allegedly did not consult with the fire department before they drained the reservoir -
Not only were the hydrants spaced over 1,000 feet apart but the diameter of the hose holes was extremely small, not big enough to draw water needed -
In addition to that water reservoir being empty in the Pacific Palisades holding 117 million gallons of water, they tarped it for environmental reasons -
Because reservoirs are tarped for “environmental reasons” that means helicopters can’t access the water and suck out water for fire suppression for aerial help - Says firefighters are “calling bullsh*t on climate change” -
Says the fires ARE ARSON - “They had a palisades fire in the exact same area three years ago caused by homeless, but no one wants to say it and everyone's afraid” -
Says DEI has hindered response giving example of women not being able to lift the required weight when saving someone - “insane environmental regulations that Karen Bass has prioritized” has caused problems -
“There was also beyond frustration about this multi-billion dollar water bond that was passed in 2014 by California voters to build reservoirs. It was meant to store and capture water.” Nothing was built.
Where did the money go? “The state needs to clear brush, allow controlled burns, increase water storage, and hire based on performance alone. But Gavin's refusal to implement these solutions just further highlights his incompetence and inability to effectively do this job.”
President Donald Trump, who has been critical of the way the State of California has managed their water supply, announced in a social media post that the military has now turned on the water.
This all comes amid the recent devastating and deadly wildfires in Los Angeles, as firefighters could not fight the fires in many areas due to no water in the fire hydrants. Many residents also reported they had no water from their outdoor water faucets.

Trump is accurate in his assertion that Newsom diverted water to the Pacific ocean that could have filled the massive reservoirs in LA. Trump is right. The legacy media and California state apparatchiks can run cover for Newsom and prattle on that it is not true, but it is.
Thankfully, their former information dominance is over, and we are the media now so the truth is getting out. To really understand this media revolution, sign up for the Dennis Michael Lynch DML Newsletter and listen to his DML News Feed. Trust me. He’s brilliant and you will learn the truth the legacy media works daily to keep you from knowing.
Trump wrote on Truth Social “The United States Military just entered the Great State of California and, under Emergency Powers, TURNED ON THE WATER flowing abundantly from the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. The days of putting a Fake Environmental argument, over the PEOPLE, are OVER. Enjoy the water, California!!!”
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump The United States Military just entered the Great State of California and, under Emergency Powers, TURNED ON THE WATER flowing abundantly from the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. The days of putting a Fake Environmental argument, over the PEOPLE, are OVER. Enjoy the water, California!!!
Additional California policy catastrophes that contributed to the severity of Los Angeles area wildfires, follow:
The Climate Change Hoax Policies: Instead of addressing the root causes of the fire (DEI hiring of leadership rather than merit, neglect of water reservoirs, inadequate maintenance of fire trucks, severe budget cuts to the fire departments, neglect of water line maintenance, letting hydrants become nonoperating, etc.), California's collectivist communists reflexively blame wildfires solely on the "climate crisis."
This has led to a lack of focus on actionable solutions that could mitigate the risk and impact of wildfires. For example, after the wildfires of 2020, Newsom issued an executive order to ban the sale of new non-EV cars by 2035, which does nothing to directly address wildfire prevention or management.
Over-Regulation of Land Management Policies: The state's regulations have hindered effective land management practices. Good fire prevention policies include deregulating the process for public and private land managers to conduct controlled burns, thin vegetation, graze animals for vegetation control, and harvest timber, among others. These practices could reduce the fuel available for wildfires, yet they have been limited by the California collective communists regulatory constraints.
Catastrophic Water Management Policies: Unbelievably, Governor Newsom and the California legislature Democrat Marxists, like Marxists historically, implemented Utopian socialist water policies: they reduced or cut off the billions of gallons of water from the North that used to flow south to Los Angeles while at the same time draining the massive reservoirs that provided water to the fire hydrants in neighborhoods like the Palisades. As Trump stated so succinctly in his news conference with the collectivist communist rulers of Los Angeles, “I like water. It puts out fire.”
These policy failures not only failed to prevent wildfires but have increased their severity by not addressing the fundamental issues related to land and water management in a proactive manner.
Peter Clack @PeterDClack Jan 27 Acreage lost to wildfires in the United States fell sharply over a century, despite far more fires deliberately lit. The number of wildfires is not rising, a fake claim based on climate propaganda. Poor preparation & failed land management made California's fires so much worse.
Policy Failures after the California Fires
Republicans in the California legislature proposed a set of common sense measures to help fire-proof the state such as clearing dry brush, placing power lines that can begin fires underground, etc.
Incredibly, Democrats voted against it! But of course, during the first week of the fire, the California Democrat super majority in the legislature did vote to allocate 50 million for ‘Trump-proofing’ (whatever that is) with public money.
California Republicans proposed several common sense measures to enhance wildfire prevention and effectively "fireproof" the state. Here's a summary:
Forest Management and Fuel Reduction: Republicans suggested a policy of allocating funds for forest management and reducing highly flammable wild brush, which would help mitigate the risk of wildfires. This included a proposal for $1 billion specifically for wildfire prevention, focusing on clearing brush and other fuel reduction techniques. (Remember…California has spent 25 billion on “homeless” and has totally failed to fix that problem.)
Putting Power Lines Underground: Another policy suggestion was to the put the power lines underground to prevent sparks from igniting fires during high winds or other hazardous conditions.
Legislative Amendments: There were attempts to introduce amendments in the California Assembly, like Assembly Bill 41X, which aimed to provide significant funding for wildfire prevention, but these were also voted down.
These proposals reflect a focus on practical, on-the-ground strategies aimed at reducing the ignition and spread of wildfires, but the collectivist communist Democratic supper majority refused to pass the bill. This Democrat super majority is drunk with power and tragically causing death and destruction as we just saw on a scale in California that is Biblical.
California collectivist communists are continue the tradition of that ideology whose policies have destroyed tens of thousands of homes and caused unnecessary death to Americans. In a just world, they would be prosecuted for criminal acts, behavior, and negligence. Instead, they continue to enforce their deadly policies. Let’s hope Trump can correct their horrors.
Giving them billions of dollars from average Americans to enable them to continue to create manmade disasters bad policy. It is also immoral and unwise. As President Trump has indicated, any recovery and rebuild money they are given is not an entitlement. It will only reward their bad policies if there are no conditions to receiving it. There will be restrictions on this rebuild and recovery money, of necessity, to prevent theft, misuse, fraud, waste, and abuse.
California Water Infrastructure must be Updated
The two primary pipelines that bring water from Northern California to Southern California are:
California Aqueduct - Also known as the Governor Edmund G. Brown California Aqueduct, this is a major part of the State Water Project. It transports water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta in Northern California to various parts of Central and Southern California.
Colorado River Aqueduct - It brings water from the Colorado River, which originates in the Rocky Mountains (north of California) but is managed through the Parker Dam, into Southern California.
These systems are integral to the water distribution network in California, for agricultural, urban, and industrial needs across the state. Until the collectivist communists took over California, these water systems worked magnificently to create an agricultural, manufacturing, industrial, and prosperous lifestyle miracle in California.
Trump was correct in his statement that the water should go to Southern California rather than be diverted into the Pacific Ocean due to a small fish. Human lives and property matter more than a fish that is not actually an “endangered species.” This is common sense.
Trump is right: there IS a "giant spigot" that can send more water to southern California. It's the Jones pumping station - the federally-owned"Trump Pump." Right next door is "Gavin's Pump". The C.W. Bill Jones federal pumping station can be turned on, as Trump said over and over, to enable billions of gallons of water from the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta through the Delta Mendota Canal to go to Southern California. Governor Newsom turned it off because of an anchovy-sized fish. Trump ‘45 ordered the pump opened.
Nearby the “Trump Pump” there is the California Harvey O. Banks Delta Pumping Station that is part of the state water project. This is “Gavin’s Pump.” This sends water into the California Aqueduct which is the state owned part of the system. And guess what happened when President Trump said last time that more water should be sent in the federal water system to Southern California? The state of California, led by Governor Newsome, cut back on the water they sent via Gavin’s Pump.
This restriction of water flow by Newsom is a manmade disaster, one of hundreds, that prevented the fires when they first began from being extinguished rapidly so they did not spread.
Department of Government Efficiency @DOGE 1h Congratulations to the Administration and DOI’s Bureau of Reclamation for more than doubling the Federally pumped water flowing toward Southern California in < 72 hours. Was an honor for the DOGE team to work with you. Great job! @Interior
California likes to believe it is a leader in climate policies and in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. However, because of the lack of forestry maintenance, the state has negated all the greenhouse gas reductions it has achieved over 18 years of funding renewable energy, low-emission vehicles and climate policy. The reductions achieved over those 18 years only amount to half of the greenhouse gasses emitted from wildfires in just one year: 2020. Greenhouse gas emissions from wildfires are the second largest source of total emissions in the state, second only to those emitted in the transportation sector.
At present rates, California’s fires are wiping out all the “green” impacts, scrimping and saving and discomfort – along with the forced expenditure of untold billions of dollars –— Californians have had to endure to pursue their politicians’ obsession with manmade global warming. All their toil and trouble are being erased.
The wildfires origins can be traced to Gavin Newsom’s ill-conceived Net-Zero Carbon, forestry and water policies, which in turn have resulted in lost lives, lost homes, and millions of metric tons of CO2, toxic gases and carcinogenic particulate materials released into the environment.
We note that in 2022, Newsom signed AB 1279, the California Climate Crisis Act Bill, which requires California to achieve statewide net-zero greenhouse gas emissions no later than 2045. This bill has now been torched due to the aforementioned disastrous policies that arose from perceived man-made climate change (follow the money).
Secondaries
In any disaster, there are secondaries. They are usually impacts you cannot predict that result in the loss of life and damage to property. Oftentimes, they are long term and can be worse than the original disaster. In the Southern California fires, here is an example of a secondary.
There are deadly serious toxic materials released from the Vistra Corp Moss Landing battery fire caused by these fires. The toxic impact of these fires will effect life and property in California for decades. Although too large a topic to go into here, you may find more detail on secondaries in my previous Substacks here.

Who Am I to Write this Analysis
For those who are asking, “What gives you the right to analyze the California collectivist Marxist water and fire policy failures? You’re not a government expert, academic, policy or fire expert?”
True.
But as the lies and failed policies that followed the release of the Red Chinese created and American intelligence community financed bioweapon called “Covid 19” have taught us all…if we are to survive, the experts have failed us…catastrophically, as they have with the unnecessary Southern California manmade wildfires. Common sense is now the golden measure of what works and what does not work.
If you have an interest, below are a few of my 48 years of bona fides infused with common sense to help Americans families prepare for, deal with, and recover from manmade and natural disasters. I love and care about my own family and the American family and have done professional and volunteer civil defense work to keep my family and the American family safe. There is a reason this Substack is free. I want you to know how to prepare for, respond to, survive, and triumph over natural and manmade disaster.
In the early 1980’s, my first job post-Air Force was to inspect numerous county emergency operation centers when I was vice president of an emergency management firm. I also wrote articles for Hazard Monthly. Fascinated by the planning that went into these thousands of civil defense shelters then, I continued to explore civil defense as a program, policy, art, and discipline.
Since 2007, I have been a volunteer member of the Board of Directors, now volunteer Vice President, of The American Civil Defense Association (TACDA). Through the TACDA Civil Defense Journal and my analysis in my civil defense blog (poetslife.blogspot.com) and American Tactical Civil Defense Substack, for decades now I have created, taught, shared, and implements civil defense strategies to Americans and American organizations.

With the 2024 election, our country was just saved from being conquered and divided by the Communist Chinese Party, globalists (WEF, the Pope, etc.), decadent and criminal foreigner invaders, and internal traitors at the highest level of local, state, and federal government (many of whom are still engaged in treasonous activity and must be legally, morally, and ethically identified and prosecuted). Four years in the wilderness are now over.
The future is bright. We outlasted their evil intent. Holiness and innocence for our children and grandchildren has been restored. They will no longer be mutilated. Women and girls will no longer be abused in the sports arena, schools, or locker rooms by men who are mentally ill and think they are women. Chivalry has replaced perversion.
It was a long and very difficult fight. But we won. Let’s thank God for this magnificent time and enjoy it.
And to thank God and the man who was willing to die TWICE so the children have a future, here is a poem I wrote about him in 2016 to honor him for his first inauguration that, because he is the real deal, also applies to his second inauguration.
For the American Children yet Unborn
When others thought it was all about the past fights,
And bickering and settling old scores and slights,
The Candidate saw past the horror of fathers without jobs,
Mothers without hope, children without laughter,
To the grandchildren and great grandchildren yet unborn
And reached down, again, deep to the interior spirit
Where truth and life and giving and sacrifice mix,
Where determination and work and success co-create,
Where the American ideal still speaks to millions
Because brave men rose in the middle of the night
And carried arms in America first and then to the world
To liberate tens of millions from oppression and slaughter
While braver women kept the food growing, the children alive,
The factories humming and the plane and ship fleets growing,
And saw there, the blinding light of the risen word made flesh,
Took solace in the lessons learned hard and bitter
That each generation could be better off and greater
Than the one before because sacrifice has its own reward.
So, The Candidate became The Elect and now The President
Aware that The People rule, as our Founding Fathers stated
So gloriously in a Declaration of Independence
And a Constitution that gives direction and truth for all,
Here, here is America and the American people
Two ideas intertwined by birth, grit, work, truth and love
Here begins the wonder of the American children yet unborn.
