MAHA, Bobby Kennedy, and Good Health
Healing High Obesity Rates is Fundamental to American Tactical Civil Defense Success and the Future of the U.S.
I was blessed to attend the historic West Virginia Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) celebration at St. Joseph’s Grade School in Martinsburg, WV on March 28th, 2025. It was a blast and an honor to be there. Video’s at the end.
I completely agree with RFK, Jr. when he stated that obesity, and its worst form of medical obesity, are an “existential” threat to America’s future. This is not some made up “climate change” hoax. This is a reality that takes the lives of American grandmothers, grandfathers, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and other loved ones every day. It creates chronic medical conditions that, over time, cost American families trillions in drug payments to Big Pharma.
His statistic that “74% of young people cannot pass a physical to enter the American military” is stunning and clear evidence the most serious medical epidemic this nation faces. “Covid 19” was a psyop. This, in contrast, is real. Much as they forbad truthful discussion of vaccines, experimental “Covid 19 drugs,” they have forbidden discussion of the obesity epidemic in the U.S. even longer.
Civil defense in the United States has always been accomplished by vets who have served and learned the skill stack to help other Americans prepare for, get through, and recover from natural and manmade disasters.
If there are not enough fit young Americans to go into the military to learn those survival core competencies, there is no American Tactical Civil Defense. Moreover, if younger Americans are not healthy enough to procreate and instead suffer from chronic obesity, we are done.
RFK, Jr. is a remarkably talented guy with the Irish “Magics.” My ancestor, James Michael (The Last Hurrah) Curley, was a political enemy of Honey Fitz Kennedy, RFK Jr.’s great grandfather. You can read about it in the masterful tome The Rascal King.
Foreign-Owned Grocery Stores Poison Americans
Hundreds of chronic health conditions result from this obesity epidemic in the U.S.. Living in West Virginia, I witness this slow moving death and destruction everyday. When I visit the grocery store, the majority of shoppers I see are medically obese, crippled, and depressed. Not good.
They ride the aisles sitting on electric shopping carts. It breaks my heart. If they would just shop at the Spring Valley Farm Market or the Mennonite Crestview Meat Market, they could buy healthy fruit, vegetables, and lean meats. Instead, they shop at mega grocery stores (most owned by the British and Germans who sell non-nutritional food outlawed in Europe and whose only goal is to make money off obese Americans).
I have never heard President Trump mention the foreign ownership of our grocery stores when he speaks of foreign ownership of our manufacturing, but it is a huge problem.
The Martin's Food Market where I see this sad scene in West Virginia
is a brand under the Giant Company, a subsidiary of Ahold Delhaize, a multinational retail group formed by the 2016 merger of Ahold (Netherlands) and Delhaize (Belgium). Ahold Delhaize is headquartered in Zaandam, Netherlands. Its shares are traded on Euronext Amsterdam, with a significant portion owned by European investors.
Below is a short list of notable foreign-owned grocery store chains operating in the United States. There are more too long to list here. The U.S. grocery market foreign ownership has grown through mergers, acquisitions, and expansions. This list is not exhaustive, as smaller or regional chains may also have foreign ownership not widely documented.
Giant Food (and other Ahold Delhaize banners: Stop & Shop, Hannaford, Food Lion, The Giant Company’s Martin’s Food Markets). Owner: Ahold Delhaize. Country: Netherlands (headquartered in Zaandam). Formed by the 2016 merger of Dutch Ahold and Belgian Delhaize, Ahold Delhaize operates over 2,000 stores in the U.S. under various banners. Giant Food (Maryland/Virginia area), Stop & Shop (Northeast), Hannaford (New England), Food Lion (Southeast), and Martin’s Food Markets (Pennsylvania area) are key brands. It’s a publicly traded company on Euronext Amsterdam, with significant European ownership.
Aldi owner: ALDI Süd (Albrecht Discounts), a privately held company, country: Germany. Founded by the Albrecht family, ALDI Süd operates over 2,000 stores in the U.S., primarily in the Midwest, East Coast, and South. It’s distinct from ALDI Nord, which owns Trader Joe’s. The company is known for its discount model and private-label products.
Trader Joe’s owner: ALDI Nord, a privately held company (via trusts controlled by the Albrecht family), country: Germany. Acquired in 1979 by Theo Albrecht, co-founder of ALDI Nord, Trader Joe’s operates around 560 stores across 43 states.
If they would lose weight, they could avoid being medically obese, crippled, and depressed. But if 90% of what is available in the grocery store is non-nutritious and worse, poison due to the additives, how are they to get healthy?
Obesity is a manmade disaster. It is not a flood, fire, hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, snow storm, hail storm, wind storm, tornado, or deadly insect invasion. It is humans eating too much non-nutritional food and drink. Sadly, Americans no longer get the protein and nutrition they need when they eat. We have suffered a national manmade disaster, obesity, for decades and we must fix it if we are to have a future.
RFK did not “Fat Shame” Governor Morrissey
The media and many on X reported that RFK, Jr. “fat shamed” West Virginia Governor Morrissey at the event. Not so. I was there. What they both did was all done in good humor. As a couple of mic’s gifted with an Irish sense of humor and the Irish 'Magics” (a God given super power), they do not take themselves too seriously and know how to laugh at themselves. To wit, Governor Morrisey jokingly referred to himself as RFK Jr.’s “reconstruction project.”
Unfortunately, the narrative that was told was dominated by a discussion about “fat shaming” rather than Governor Morrisey’s and RFK Jr.’s message that we all need to exercise, eat healthy, avoid processed non-nutritional foods, and that if you really love America, Americans, and your family, you will optimize your health and take the steps necessary toward that worthwhile goal.
The Governor was clear in his speech that he has not made the best food or exercise choices in his life. The Governor Morrisey invited RFK, Jr. to be his personal trainer and noted that RFK Jr., had yet to say “Yes.” It was all in good fun. Most importantly, Governor Morrisey committed to leading the way personally to making West Virginia citizens healthy.
Then he offered horrid statistics (the state ranking 50th in life expectancy in 2020, leading the country in rates of diabetes and heart disease, and having the greatest number of obese citizens in the nation).
I detest the term “fat shaming” as much as I detest the term “Nazi.” Both are used as a way to shut down further discussion. Men especially learn to be better by being shamed into improving their behavior. Growing up, it was common for coaches to tell players to lose weight. Why? To be cruel? No, to help the player shed the pounds needed to become a superior athlete.
This wasn’t “fat shaming.” Governor Morrisey opened the event by talking about the need to be more healthy, challenged West Virginian’s to walk a mile a day and said he would do the same. He joked that he asked RFK, Jr. to be his personal trainer when RFK, Jr. joked when they met in Palm Springs at Dr. Oz’s house he said, 'You look like you ate Governor Morrissey.'"
He then continued, "I'm gonna put him on a really rigorous regimen, and we're gonna put him on a carnivore diet." Raise your hand if you want Governor Morrissey to do a public weigh-in once a month." Everyone laughed and it was all in good fun.
When the Marxists redefined the term “fat awareness” to “fat shaming” they did the usual destruction they are so good at when destroying the human spirit. If you cannot “fat shame” or make someone aware they need to lose weight for their own health and happiness, is that good? Does it help them? No, it keeps them on the same path to ill health, depression, anxiety, unhappiness, and disease until they are dependent on multiple pharmaceuticals just to live.
Mark my word. Now that Governor Morrissey has been “fat shamed” in the media (i.e. made aware of his obesity and its dangers), he will get his weight down to a much healthier average.
It is the same thinking that leads to such a high suicide rate among transgenders. Let’s pretend it is not a mental health issue and go along with the lie that it is normal. All both lead to is an early death.
RFK, Jr. made an outstanding point about how Big Tobacco read the writing on the wall in the 1990’s as they lost their customer base and faced law suits that were driving them out of business, so they transitioned to but up America’s food supply and distribution and became Big Food.
Just imagine if the Marxists had invented the term “smoker shamed” back then. Millions of Americans would have died from smoking because they were unaware of its dangers. A parallel truth exists for currently enabling obese and medically obese Americans to escape accentuality for their poor eating habits.
To Governor Morrisey’s credit, he owned up to his poor food and lack of exercise habits and announced the “good news” is that he can change them for the better, and committed to do so. He is a very humorous, intelligent, MAGA politician who genuinely cares about West Virginian’s and wants to change the state via his announced “Four Pillars.”
RFK, Jr. provided this bombshell: “The food companies all came and met with me a few weeks ago; they’re a little scared of me. But they’re more scared of Governor Morrisey. They said “tell us what you want and we’ll do it, but stop these governors from passing laws! We don’t want a patchwork of California and West Virginia banning food dyes, and creating new products for those states.” They’re terrified of what you’re doing. So the message I want to send to all the other states is, get in line behind Governor Morrisey. Apply for a SNAP waiver from my agency. That’s the way we’re going to win this!”
Exercise and Catholic School Flashback
I went to Holy Angels Grade School in West Oak Lane Philadelphia and St. Anthony of Padua Grade School in Ambler, PA (town with the largest Superfund site in the country due to Keasbey & Madison asbestos plant) and Archbishop Kennedy High School in Conshohocken, PA. At the MAHA celebration at St. Joseph’s Grade School, I had flashbacks from those 12 years of Catholic education.
I’ve made a good living due to the discipline, Christian values and learning, writing, reading, grammar, rhetoric, and logic core competencies the St. Joe’s nuns drilled into me in those schools.
I attended the University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins SAIS, the American College in Paris, and Officer Training School in the U.S. Air Force, but the skills that enabled me to work steady and contribute to the American Dream were gifts from those nuns. I saw that same tradition reflected in the priests, teachers, parents and students at St. Joe’s Grade School.
The children in attendance were so healthy, fun loving, intelligent, wholesome, and gifted it was an honor to be among them and their hard working parents sacrificing to pay their tuition because the public schools have become so evil. They are so innocent that they, and other American children, are the “holy innocents” I’ve dedicated thousands of hours to civil defense to strive to keep them safe from disaster. They inspire me with their bright futures. To RFK Jr.’s credit, he shook the hand of every student who came up on stage for the law signing.
The MAHA celebration was held in the school basketball gym. I had a flashback of how my Holy Angel’s team in 1965 won the city championship in basketball in just such a gym. Back then, we had recess in the morning and the afternoon. Most of us participated in sports.
Tragically, most public schools in this country no longer offer sports. Many boys, rather than getting the energy out of their system so they can learn, instead are put on drugs to down them out. This must change. It is time to get back to the rigorous athletic culture I experienced in Catholic grade and high school so we are to conquer this obesity epidemic.
The Journal’s Take on the WV MAHA Event
The article below in the Journal of Martinsburg, WV provides an excellent summary of the MAHA celebration.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy shakes the hands of students at St. Joseph School in Martinsburg. Dozens of students and parents at St. Joseph School attended a conference with Gov. Patrick Morrisey and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joined Gov. Patrick Morrisey in his presentation, saying West Virginia would lead the way in his push to make America healthy again.
MARTINSBURG — Following the passing of a bill by the West Virginia Legislature banning several food dyes from schools and stores, Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced changes to the state’s SNAP program, also known as food stamps, along with his plan to make the state healthier, during a conference at Saint Joseph School in Martinsburg.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joined Morrisey in the presentation, saying West Virginia would lead the way in his push to make America healthy again. West Virginia is the first state in the nation to pass any sweeping ban of seven different food dyes, as well as two preservatives, which proponents of the bill say will help improve health outcomes across the state.
Dozens of Saint Joseph School students and their parents were in attendance. Rev. Thomas Gallagher, pastor at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, said it was a great honor for the school to host Friday’s event.
The push to make West Virginia a healthier state has been at the forefront of state politics for some time now, with the state ranking 50th in life expectancy in 2020, leading the country in rates of diabetes and heart disease.
“That’s the bad news, but we have good news,” Morrisey said. “We have the power to change it.”
To that end, Morrisey said his administration is working to realign SNAP so that good food choices are easier to make for low-income Americans who are on the plan.
He announced that he would be requesting a SNAP waiver from the federal government to no longer have taxpayer-subsidized soda as an entitlement under SNAP.
He also announced that to incentivize West Virginians to return to the workforce, he would be expanding work, training and educational requirements for SNAP recipients. Currently, to receive SNAP benefits, able-bodied adults without dependents ages 18 to 54 are required to work or train for 80 hours a month in order to receive SNAP benefits.
“You see, SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program,” Morrisey said. “The N stands for nutrition, not for nonsense.”
West Virginia currently ranks 51st in the nation in labor force participation, with 54.5% of the population working.
Morrisey said he’s also planning on incentivizing healthy food choices, expanding access to them in all 55 counties. His plan, dubbed the four pillars of a healthy West Virginia, centers around cleaning up the state’s food, starting with the ban on food dyes, as well as to help West Virginians find a purpose and return to the workforce and incentivize healthy food choices. He’s also asking every West Virginian to get out and walk at least a mile every day, a challenge that he’s calling the Mountaineer Mile.
Morrisey said he’s planning on leading by example, making an effort to clean up his own food and exercise habits first, with Kennedy as his personal trainer.
“I’m going to do my best, my personal best, to make the hard choices to get healthy,” Morrisey said. “I’m not afraid to admit that I’ve not always made the best food and exercise decisions in my life, but I will do my best to get better.”
Kennedy said he’s excited to be Morrisey’s personal trainer, saying he would put him on a “carnivore diet” and a rigorous exercise regimen. He asked the audience if they’d like to see Morrisey do a public weigh-in once a month to track his progress.
“When he’s lost 30 pounds, I’m going to come back and do a celebration in a public way,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy said he’s glad West Virginia is leading the charge to make America healthy again, with the state having the highest obesity rate in the country, recently pulling ahead of Mississippi as the highest rate of chronic disease in the country.
“Today, we’re the sickest we’ve ever been,” Kennedy said. “Sixty-percent of Americans, from 3% when my uncle was president, have chronic disease, and it’s not happening in other countries.”
Kennedy and Morrisey said they’ve already heard pushback from “big food” and “big drink” lobbyists, who argue that the bans on dyes and buying soda with SNAP will just raise prices for everyday Americans.
“These companies are now just like the tobacco companies were — are flooding into the offices of your state leaders and legislatures and the governor, and they’re telling him he’s making a big mistake,” Kennedy said.
To end the conference, Morrisey, flanked by more than a dozen students, signed a letter of intent for West Virginia to file multiple SNAP waivers to the federal government to make their changes.
Why Do the Marxists Rage
To attend this event I had to walk through a gauntlet of angry, spitting, cursing, violent Marxists who shoved signs in my face, blocked the sidewalk so I could not go past them, and raged about MAHA, Trump, and RFK, Jr. Worse, the poor mother behind me with her three young children was subject to the same abuse. We all got a taste of what the TESLA showrooms are experiencing right now.
When one Marxist refused to move and kept shoving her sign in my face, I spoke to her in the limited Russian I learned from a Russian I used to work with at the World Bank. It is an old street technique I learned in the martial arts. Confuse the attacker by speaking in a foreign tongue. It interrupts their rage cycle and gives you time to flee, get past them, or take them out as they hesitate.
When I spoke Russian to her, she went into shock. Then she turned to her husband and said, “SEE! I TOLD YOU THE RUSSIANS RUN TRUMP! DID YOU HEAR HIM?!” I burst out laughing and was able to get past her and the Marxist mob finally. The three guys in suits behind me did the same. Later, Governor Morrisey introduced them as the WV legislators responsible for the passage of the WV healthy food act.
Here are two comments from the raging Marxists I spoke of above that were published in The Journal. For an insight into their rabid rage, I encourage you to visit their Facebook pages by clicking their links.
Dump Trump No mention of the 200 or so protesters outside of St. Joe's? The HHS Secretary is completely unqualified for this job. He has a past he can't defend and is there only because he's willing to do Trump's dirty work. Carrots are good, but so are vaccines.
Marc Stebler MAHA: Make America Hate Again
Today is Our 40th Wedding Anniversary
One of the secrets to lasting 40 years in a marriage is to recognize the love your wife puts into making a sandwich.
My Wife Makes a Sandwich
She directs a kitchen orchestra:
To the left, celery, salt, pepper and pickles,
To the right, tins of fresh tuna and mayo,
In the middle, knives, forks, spoons,
And the show begins.
Hands fly about with utensils
In a graceful, artistic and athletic motion
As celery is diced, tuna is mixed with mayo,
Salt and pepper are sprinkled, gingerly
And wheat bread is selected and dressed
To the final act of creation,
To be spread in one holy movement
To bread, and spread and respread
Until satisfied, she looks
The way a master carpenter stares back
To examine a doorway one last time
To make sure it will bear the burden of life.
Me, I just make a sandwich.
Slap together meat and cheese
Between two slices of bread.
My wife orchestrates a sandwich,
And in doing so, makes new life.
Kiss Your Wife Each Morning
My Uncle Jay
Woke each morning
And kissed my Aunt Jackie
Saying “Good Morning Love”
Before he did anything.
She stayed with him
For five decades
Despite the whiskey
Being the other mistress
Based on his charm
And intellect and humor,
But, also, that morning kiss.
The whiskey was the medicine
That got him past the malaria pain
He endured as a sailor
On a PT-109 in WWII
In the Pacific Theatre.
We did not know
What PTSI did to a brain, spirit,
Relationships, and life then.
We do now.
So, kiss your wife each morning.
And save a moment of reflection
For the guys with malaria
Or PTSI1 or other battle scars
That still keeps enough of his humanity
After experiencing the horrors of war
To kiss his wife each morning.
1I use the term PTSI to mean Post Traumatic Stress Injury and not the more widely used Post Traumatic Stress Disorder purposely. Unfortunately, usually when people hear PTSD they think of a mental or sexual disorder that cannot be cured. In contrast, using PTSI, classifying the condition as an injury, holds out the possibility of healing, as an injury can be healed. Please join me in using PTSI rather than PTSD and maybe one day we can even get the Veteran’s Administration to get up-to-date on this.
If a zombie apocalypse breaks out, I just have to be able to outrun the obese people they'll go after first.
